Our next trip is a getaway cruise to celebrate Amy and my 13th anniversary.

“But Colby… that was last March!”

Yes, March 2020 when the world stopped for months.

Anniversary Cruise 2020

Last year after being hired on full time at my job I scheduled a cruise on the Carnival Breeze for our anniversary. It wasn’t a big cruise, and it was an itinerary we had done multiple times. Should have been a piece of cake … right?

Cozumel Cruise Port

Enter 2020.

I watched and waited until Carnival cancelled the cruise on us. The good news was that we could rebook at another date with an additional onboard credit.

Our travel agent with Carnival worked with me to find an even better deal on the same cruise in November. A corner aft balcony. My favorite spot on the ship.

Disneyland 2020

The next trip we had planned was supposed to be Stappcation 2020. I had worked with our Disney travel agent to get a reservation for 4 days at Disneyland and California Adventure. What’s more, we would be going to the Halloween party – Oogie Boogie Bash.

Amy and I were so excited. We hadn’t told the kids yet, but we were going to find some crazy way to do so.

Then Disney closed for nearly two months. When they announced their reopening, they cancelled the Halloween Party this year.

That was the only reason to go right then, so we have pushed this one back until later as well. So far, I haven’t set up a new date.

This is when we decided to go to South Dakota.

Anniversary Cruise 2020 – Part 2

As of right now, we are still expecting to be on this cruise. I know what you are thinking too…

“Why would you go on a cruise after COVID-19?”

I’m not rescheduling unless they force me to and give me another onboard credit. At the rate we are going, we might end up with enough to pay the bar tab with the on board credit.

2021 and Beyond

COVID-19 has kept us from planning much, but we will likely be visiting Disneyland around February sometime (don’t tell the kids). I’m a little apprehensive to schedule an anniversary trip for 2021 until things calm down.

We’ve never been past the Rockies as a family, so this will be a big but short trip. We are going to save the Halloween Party until another time and just try to enjoy the parks as they are this time around.

We do plan to make another Walt Disney World trip around my 50th birthday. There is also the possibility of a vacation to Hawaii alongside some good friends. We haven’t really done any planning for these other than saying that we are going to go in 2022. I’m not real sure when they want to do the Hawaii trip. I do know it’s for their anniversary.

There will also likely be another cruise or two and a few road trips, baseball games and whatnot. Things are so out of sorts now, that it is very hard to plan, but don’t count us out. We plan to travel as soon as things open up to it again.

What kind of plans are you making for future trips?
