The Long Road Home

After a good sleep-in this morning, some road trip snacks and a brief discussion with a highway patrolman purchasing a bag of ice (curious, isn’t it?), we finally began the grueling 10 hour drive back home.

We drove straight down I-90 and accidentally missed the exit we were going to take to see the Delta-9 Missile silo site and continued to not stop until Mitchell for gas and to clean a number of juicy kamikaze bugs from the windshield.

It rained through Souix Falls and stopped shortly after Souix City where we had to break had for a multi vehicle accident that completely blocked the oncoming lane. They were landing a life-flight helicopter as we were passing by, so we hope and pray for those people.

We continued on to Council Bluffs where we grabbed a McDonald’s dinner and completed our journey at about 9:30 tonight.

It was an incredibly fun and educational trip and we really hope to pay another visit in the future.

Thank you all for reading and commenting, we look forward to this every year just to see everyone’s reactions to both what we do and to my retelling of the day’s activities.
